Hello and welcome to the Christmas roundup. I can’t believe that the festive period is once more upon us – so before we begin eating turkey and drinking a few beers. There’s time for one more comic roundup. This week we have details on Booms! Tenth anniversary, a new look for Spider-woman plus a little more. So let’s get things started….

Marvel

Spider-Woman

Spider-woman This week Marvel unveiled a new look for Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman courtesy of Kris Anka. This new modern look marks the biggest overhaul for our hero, since her debut in 1977.

I have to say it’s about time she had a new costume, and I’m glad the spandex has gone. I’m really liking the new modern look and can’t wait to see the new costume in action.

IDW

The Fly

The-Fly IDW have managed to snag the rights for The Fly! Yes The Fly, starring Jeff Goldblum will be heading back to us – albeit in comic form. The film was originally released 28 years ago and saw Goldblums character turning from man to a man/fly hybrid.

I don’t do much horror as everyone’s aware, yet the Fly was one horror film I used to watch over and over as a kid. This new five part mini series will take up where the film ended. Following the original character almost human son as he tries to find a cure for his mutation.

The new story will be written by Brandon Seifert and I can’t wait to get my hands on this. The first issue will hit shelves next March.

Powers

Powers Icon have announced that Powers is getting a reboot this January. Released just after the debut of the new TV show – the new #1 promises to be a great start for new readers to pick up the series.

The new series will see the return of creative team, Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. It’s an exciting time for this series and if you haven’t read an issue yet, then this could be the perfect time.

Dynamite

Altered States

Altered-States2 We’ve seen Marvel and DC both offering us alternate realities for our favourite characters. Now Dynamite are jumping into the alternate reality, offering us a glimpse of what can be for various characters.

The new series will be known as Altered States and will showcase alternate variations of Red Sonja, Doc Savage and The Shadow. Releasing next March it will be interesting to see these characters in an alternate reality, don’t you think?

Boom! Studios

10th Anniversary Covers

Adventure-Time This week Boom! Have released details on some rather special covers, hitting next year. The covers will be to celebrate Boom’s tenth anniversary. This cover program will see one artist drawing covers for each imprint each quarter in the year long celebration.

In January several issues will get the cover treatment including Burning Fields, Adventure Time, Feathers and Munchkin. I have to say they are looking spectacular – it’s going to be a good year for Boom!.
